DRESS CODE
Dance attire is required for all dance classes. This enables the teacher to properly observe the students body movement for correct form and technique. See below listing for attire requirements.
•No jewelry is allowed in class as it can cause injury.
•Hair must be pulled back as to not be a distraction in training.
•At Spotlight Dance Arts, I want to keep dress requirements simple.
•Dancers are to be modestly attired at all times. Absolutely NO bare mid-drifts.
•Form fitted plain t-shirts, plain tank tops, plain leotards, jazz pants, exercise clothing, sweat pants (non baggy).
•You will be able to order studio clothing very soon. We may choose an additional studio color soon.
•We do not want it to be about the clothes. We want it to be about the dancer and being able to focus on technique.
•Shoes can be very expensive, but are essential for dance training. A nice jazz oxford or ballet slipper can be worn for Jazz, Dance Technique, Flex and Stretch, Hip Hop, and Lyrical Modern. Classic Broadway style jazz often asks the advanced female dancers to have a character shoe with heels.
•Tap shoes for the male students will be a standard oxford style. The ladies have a choice; either an oxford style or a character style shoe with a slight heel. Advanced tap students may want to get a heel as high as 3 inches.
